The Generosity of Ducks
I was at McKee Botanical Gardens in Vero Beach, Florida recently where the lotuses were starting to bloom. I have been really keen to photograph them. One beauty captivated me but it was just too far into the middle of the pond for me to see the inner parts. It was also, of course, swaying in the wind. It had my full attention and I kept working at it. But then I heard a quacking noise coming from the edge of the pond. There sat two ducks, perfectly still, not a feather ruffled by the wind, recommending that I shift my focus. So I accepted their invitation, thinking that when opportunity quacks it is probably a good idea to open the door.
